Desk Size: Naturally, the size of your office desk will depend on the available space. If that is not an issue you should select a desk with sufficient space for your computer – most are laptops these days and take up a lot less space than they once did. If you do not have enough room for a separate printer table, then your desk will also have to accommodate that, plus a router and also don’t forget your personal working space!
You may purchase desks that fit in the corner of the room. You may also purchase desks in the shape of an L for the employee that needs extra room. For example, one employee may have a printer on his or her desk and needs to have room for the printer as well as a basket to put all of the printed documents in for other employees to come and pick up. When choosing an ergonomic office desk make sure your computer monitor fits nicely onto it. You may need to buy a sliding keyboard if this fit’s the person ergonomically better that is using the desk. Make sure there is enough room for the power cords from the computer to the plug it will be going to.
PC or Laptop, A laptop does not require a desk with too many slots. A simple flat top desk is sufficient for the purpose. However, a desktop computer requires proper slots in the desk to accommodate all the computer parts. Make sure the desk can accommodate additional computer accessories like printer. Less space is needed for an all-in-one printer but more space is needed if the printer and scanner are two separate units. If you use a landline phone or fax machine then the desk should have the space or slot for such a device.
